Driver Arrested on DUI Manslaughter Charges After Lake County Crash Kills Two

FHP attributes the wreck to a Mini Cooper entering oncoming traffic.

Overview

  • Troopers identified the suspect as Seenarine Hardeo, 50, of Groveland, who was booked into the Lake County Jail on two counts of DUI manslaughter.
  • The collision occurred around 7:03 p.m. Friday on State Road 33 south of State Road 50 near Swamp Drive after a northbound 2009 Mini Cooper struck a southbound 2019 tractor-trailer.
  • The semi veered into the northbound lanes and collided with a 2006 Chevy Silverado traveling behind the Mini Cooper, and the semi overturned off the roadway.
  • The Silverado’s driver, a 22-year-old man from Frostproof, and his passenger, an 18-year-old woman from Tallahassee, were pronounced dead at the scene.
  • The 67-year-old semi driver from Miramar was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Hardeo was uninjured, and the investigation remains active; jail records list him as held without bond.
