Overview
- A passenger/tourist van went out of control near the PTDC Kajot spot on the Murree Expressway and struck a safety barrier, after which the vehicle's fuel tank exploded and the van caught fire.
- The fire killed all 10 occupants, who police say were members of a single family from Multan, while other passengers were injured and taken to PIMS Hospital for treatment.
- The driver fled the scene but was later located at PIMS Hospital following a tip-off, arrested by Motorway Police and handed over to Murree Police for further legal action.
- Motorway Police have registered an FIR at Murree Police Station under sections covering causing death by negligence and related offences as initial probes point to negligence, reckless driving and speeding.
