Overview

• Berkeley police say a driver allegedly drove onto a sidewalk just before 7:45 a.m., striking two people on the 2700 block of Belrose Avenue.
• The vehicle fled east on Derby Street, was abandoned near Emerson Elementary on the 2800 block of Garber Street, and an attempted carjacking was reported nearby.
• A third apparent hit-and-run victim was later located on Derby Street, bringing the total hospitalized to three, according to spokesperson Ofc. Jessica Perry.
• Officers arrested the suspect on the 2800 block of College Avenue, and officials said there is no continuing threat to the community.
