Driver Accused of Wrong-Way I-25 Pursuit Arrested on Felony Counts in Larimer County

Court records show the suspect was already out on bond in two cases earlier this month.

Overview

  • Deputies attempted a traffic stop for alleged violations in south Loveland around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 15, and the driver fled.
  • The suspect then drove south in the northbound lanes of I-25, causing multiple crashes, including a motorcyclist who was hospitalized and later released.
  • Deputies ended the pursuit with a PIT maneuver near Mead, arresting the driver as an adult female passenger was released at the scene, and northbound I-25 was closed for hours.
  • Thomas Mazza, 31, was booked on vehicular eluding resulting in injury, additional vehicular eluding, five counts of attempted criminally negligent homicide, false imprisonment, DUI-drugs, and a domestic violence sentence enhancer.
  • Prosecutors requested a $100,000 cash-only bond that the court issued, and investigators are seeking information or video from the public via Investigator Travis Fischer or Larimer County Crime Stoppers.
