Overview

  • The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that about 106,200 Drinkmate 1-liter PET bottles in the U.S. and 5,000 in Canada are being recalled following reports of sudden explosions during use.
  • Regulators have documented eight U.S. incidents—four causing cuts, impact injuries and hearing damage—and one similar case in Canada.
  • Only bottles marked with expiration dates between January and October 2026 sold individually for about $20 or in OmniFizz starter kits priced around $130 are affected.
  • Consumers are instructed to stop using recalled bottles immediately, upload a photo marked “recall” via Drinkmate’s website and discard the unit to receive a no-cost replacement.
  • With the root cause still undetermined, authorities are investigating potential manufacturing or import defects in the China-made bottles distributed by IDrink Products Inc.
