Overview

  • On July 14, DRI Mumbai officers intercepted an Indian woman arriving from Doha and recovered 6.261 kg of cocaine packed in 300 capsules inside Oreo biscuit and chocolate boxes.
  • All 300 capsules tested positive for cocaine using field kits and were seized under the NDPS Act, leading to the passenger’s arrest.
  • A day earlier, Kenyan national Florence Indangasi was detained after ingesting six pellets containing 665.5 g of cocaine and underwent medical extraction at JJ Hospital.
  • FIRs have been filed in both cases and the couriers remain in custody facing potential sentences of up to 20 years for smuggling commercial quantities.
  • DRI Mumbai is building on intelligence-led operations to identify handlers, recipients and dismantle the wider transnational trafficking network.
