DRI Busts ₹24 Crore Mephedrone Smuggling Operation in Mumbai

Five suspects arrested and ₹1.93 crore in cash seized following the interception of a narcotics shipment from Hyderabad to Mumbai.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 16 kg of mephedrone, valued at ₹24 crore, in a smuggling operation involving transport from Hyderabad to Mumbai.
Five individuals, including transporters, a middleman, and a receiver, have been arrested in connection with the case.
The operation was uncovered after two suspects carrying the drugs were intercepted on a bus near the Vashi flyover in Navi Mumbai.
Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of three additional suspects and the recovery of ₹1.93 crore in cash linked to the smuggling network.
Authorities are continuing efforts to trace the source of the drugs in Hyderabad and identify the intended end consumers.
