Overview
- Drew Timme agreed to a non-guaranteed training-camp contract with the Timberwolves on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, which gives him a chance to earn a standard roster spot, a two-way deal, or a G League assignment.
- The move responds to Minnesota’s offseason trades of Julius Randle and Naz Reid that left the team with experienced starter Rudy Gobert but limited proven backup minutes.
- Timme comes off a dominant 2025–26 G League season in which he averaged about 23.7 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists and also brings two NBA seasons of experience with career averages near 5.6 points and 2.7 rebounds.
- He will compete in training camp with KJ Martin and Norchad Omier for one of the final roster spots, and the Timberwolves’ current contract structure means Timme is not guaranteed rotation minutes.
- If Timme is waived the likeliest path is the Iowa Wolves in the G League, and his camp showing will influence whether Minnesota relies on young bigs Joan Beringer and Rocco Zikarsky or pursues another frontcourt addition before the season.
