Dresden's Iconic Striezelmarkt Tanne Arrives Amid Festive Preparations

The 590th Striezelmarkt is set to open on November 27, with a new traffic plan addressing challenges from the Carolabrücke collapse.

The Striezelmarkt's 25-meter Nordmann fir, sourced from Freital, was successfully transported and erected in Dresden's Altmarkt.
Preparations for the Striezelmarkt include the setup of 215 vendor stalls, with changes in the types of goods offered, such as more fish and diverse Erzgebirge crafts.
Other Dresden Christmas markets, including the Augustusmarkt and Winterlichter, will open in late November, featuring attractions like a popular lila Weihnachtsteddy and an ice rink.
The collapse of the Carolabrücke has prompted a new traffic management plan for the Advent season, with alternative parking and tram routes to ease congestion.
The full traffic plan will be unveiled on November 12, aiming to ensure smooth access to the festive markets despite infrastructural challenges.
