Dresden Sets Nov. 6 Start for Trial of Alleged NSU Supporter

The case proceeds in Dresden after Germany's top criminal court resolved a venue dispute.

Overview

  • The Higher Regional Court of Dresden will open the main hearing on 6 November with numerous dates scheduled through June 2026.
  • The defendant, identified as Susann E., is the wife of convicted NSU supporter André E. and a friend of Beate Zschäpe.
  • Federal prosecutors charge her with supporting a terrorist organization and aiding robbery/extortion linked to the motorhome used in the 4 November 2011 Eisenach bank robbery.
  • According to the indictment, she provided Zschäpe with her health insurance card and personal data for Bahncards and knew of the NSU’s racially motivated murders since at least early 2007.
  • The trial follows a Federal Court of Justice ruling ordering the Dresden court to conduct the main hearing after an initial partial admission and referral to Zwickau.
