Dresden Firefighters Rescue Icelandic Horse from Narrow Trench

The horse, stuck up to its neck in a 70 cm wide trench, was freed using a makeshift ramp and suffered only minor injuries.

Overview

  • An Icelandic horse fell into a narrow trench on Spiegelweg in Dresden's Eschdorf district on Saturday afternoon around 14:15.
  • The horse was unable to move forward or backward on its own and was stuck up to its neck in the approximately 70 cm wide trench.
  • The Dresden Fire Department, with 23 firefighters from the Albertstadt and Eschdorf units, carried out the rescue operation.
  • A ramp was constructed using excavated material, allowing the horse to be carefully guided out of the trench with the help of its owner and a veterinarian.
  • The horse sustained only minor injuries and is now under the care of a veterinarian for further monitoring.
