Dream Chaser Spacecraft Enters Final Testing Phase at NASA
The world’s only commercial spaceplane, developed by Sierra Space, prepares for its inaugural voyage to the International Space Station in 2024.
- Sierra Space's Dream Chaser spacecraft, the world’s only commercial spaceplane, is undergoing final testing at NASA's Neil Armstrong Test Facility in Sandusky, Ohio.
- The Dream Chaser and its accompanying cargo module, Shooting Star, will undergo environmental testing, including vibration and thermal vacuum testing, to simulate conditions encountered during launch and re-entry.
- The testing is in preparation for the spacecraft's maiden flight to the International Space Station (ISS), scheduled for the first half of 2024.
- Following the completion of testing at Armstrong, the Dream Chaser will be shipped to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida for further launch preparations.
- The uncrewed cargo spaceplane is part of NASA’s commercial resupply services and will launch its demonstration mission in 2024.
