Overview
- The Rail Track Rocket Sled run at TBRL reached a precisely controlled 800 km/h, validating canopy severance, correct ejection sequencing and complete aircrew recovery.
- Engineers used a dual-sled configuration with the Light Combat Aircraft forebody, achieving the target profile through phased firing of multiple solid-propellant rocket motors.
- An instrumented anthropomorphic test dummy recorded loads, moments and accelerations, while onboard and ground cameras documented the entire sequence.
- The trial involved ADA and HAL and was observed by Indian Air Force representatives, the Institute of Aerospace Medicine and certification officials.
- The defence ministry said the success places India among a select group with in-house dynamic ejection testing capability, with data analysis and additional trials planned toward operational readiness.
