DRDO Transfers Nine Advanced Defence Technologies to 10 Industry Partners

Licensing agreements signed on June 7 underscore efforts to strengthen India’s defence ecosystem with manufacturers urged to prepare for scalable production.

Overview

  • On June 7 at VRDE in Ahilyanagar, DRDO Chairman Samir V. Kamat presided over the handover of licences for nine advanced land and weapon systems to 10 defence manufacturing companies.
  • The technologies cover CBRN Recce Vehicle Mk-II, Mounted Gun System, Anti-Terrorist Vehicle (tracked), Full Trailer for the 70t Arjun Mk-1A tank transporter, Expandable Mobile Shelter, Vajra-Riot Control Vehicle, Arjun tank maintenance and repair vehicles, and a Multi-Purpose Decontamination System.
  • Production rights were allocated across a mix of public and private sector entities, including Bharat Electronics, Bharat Forge, BEML, Tata Advanced Systems, Metaltech Motor Bodies, SDR Auto, John Galt International, Dass Hitachi, Goma Engineering and Tata International Vehicle Applications.
  • VRDE also signed an MoU with COEP Technological University in Pune to collaborate on emerging defence technologies through joint research initiatives.
  • Dr Kamat lauded the performance of indigenous systems during Operation Sindoor and urged industry partners to develop surge-capable production models to bolster India’s defence readiness.
