DRDO Hands Over 7 Indigenous Defence Technologies to Tri-Services, Approves 12 New TDF Projects

DRDO’s committee cleared 12 new TDF projects to speed approvals for moving indigenous systems into service.

Overview

  • The handover took place on December 2 at DRDO Bhawan in New Delhi under the chairmanship of DRDO chief Samir V. Kamat with senior military and defence officials present.
  • The seven transfers include a high‑voltage power supply for airborne self‑protection jammers, VLF loop aerials, VLF‑HF switching matrices, a tide‑efficient naval gangway, a waterjet propulsion system, a lithium precursor recovery process, and a long‑life seawater battery.
  • The technologies cover electronic warfare, naval infrastructure, underwater sensing, propulsion and energy storage to strengthen air, sea and sub‑surface capabilities.
  • The Empowered Committee approved 12 additional Technology Development Fund projects across strategic, aerospace, naval and electronic warfare domains.
  • The panel emphasized faster end‑to‑end processing, policy alignment and streamlined acquisition for quicker induction, with all handed‑over items designed and tested by Indian industry in collaboration with DRDO.
