DRDO Clears Path for Pralay Missile Induction After Back-to-Back Tests

Phase-1 trials validated its full 150–500 km range with pinpoint precision under tracking by ITR sensors, paving the way for its formal induction into the armed forces.

Overview

  • Two consecutive User Evaluation Trials on July 28 and 29 at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island confirmed the Pralay missile’s maximum and minimum range capabilities.
  • Both launches followed their intended quasi-ballistic trajectories and hit designated targets with pinpoint accuracy, meeting all test objectives.
  • Integrated Test Range sensors and ship-based instruments verified reliable performance of guidance, navigation and other critical subsystems.
  • Pralay is an indigenously developed solid-propellant tactical missile designed by DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat and equipped to carry multiple types of warheads.
  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and DRDO Chairman Samir V. Kamat praised the trials and said they clear the way for the missile’s upcoming induction into the armed forces.
