Overview
- The ADIDOC foot prosthesis is an indigenously developed carbon-fibre device created through collaboration between DRDL, DRDO, AIIMS Bibinagar and Ramesh Aerospace Products and Services
- It was unveiled on July 14 at AIIMS Bibinagar by DRDL director Dr G.A. Srinivasa Murthy and AIIMS executive director Dr Ahanthem Santa Singh
- Biomechanical tests confirm the prosthesis can support loads up to 125 kg and meet K3-level performance standards for active users
- Available in three variants for different weight categories with a specialised model for long below-knee stumps it offers a tailored fit for diverse needs
- Production costs are expected to fall below ₹20,000 per unit compared with imported alternatives priced around ₹200,000 to expand access and curb import dependence
