Overview

• The attack occurred around 6 a.m. in Nandanagar under Kamarhati Municipality’s Ward 31 as the teacher returned from a Kali Puja invitation.
• According to his complaint, four young men and a woman allegedly beat him after he asked them to stop drinking on the roadside.
• He suffered injuries to his face, eyes and chest and was admitted to Sagar Dutta Medical College and Hospital.
• Locals intervened to stop the beating and residents later demanded immediate arrests, saying the accused appeared to be outsiders.
