Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR Debut 19 Crowdsourced ‘Somebody Loves Me’ Micro-Videos

The project grew from a Kai Cenat–sparked contest paying finalists to craft short pitches for new directing talent.

Overview

  • Nineteen short films went live Aug. 27 on the Drake Related website, with one of the previously announced 20 winners not yet published without public explanation.
  • The May contest invited aspiring directors to submit treatments, with roughly $15,000 awarded to each of 20 finalists to produce 30–60 second clips selected from thousands of entries.
  • Drake’s team framed the releases as “micro-videos” designed to double as pitches for fully realized concepts.
  • Reported highlights include Jordan Sook’s puppet-style take, Dito Andres’ animation featuring the artists’ mothers as guardian angels, and Kristen Lambie’s reflective story of an older man revisiting memories of love.
  • Drake revealed the finalists via Instagram Story, and the initiative supports the $ome $exy $ongs 4 U campaign for a track that peaked at No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100.
