- Beginning Oct. 1, Grand Canyon’s North Rim will reopen Cape Royal Road and Highway 67 to the W1 road, with Fire Point and Swamp Ridge as the only areas allowing overnight use.
- Select trails will reopen, including Cape Royal, Cliff Spring, Cape Final, Roosevelt Point, and a roughly 3‑mile Ken Patrick Trail segment between Point Imperial and Cape Royal Road.
- Kaibab National Forest will reopen just over 25,000 additional acres north of the park on Oct. 1—nearly 90% of the North Kaibab Ranger District—including Arizona Trail Passage 40 and multiple forest roads.
- Large areas remain closed due to hazards and recovery needs, including the North Kaibab Trail, after a blaze that burned about 145,000 acres, destroyed the Grand Canyon Lodge, damaged over 100 structures and sections of a key water pipeline.
