Overview
- Early August disclosures show large numbers of electors flagged during the house-to-house SIR verification, with Karnataka reporting 1,10,97,426 entries marked ASDDO and 49.42 lakh of Bengaluru’s 1.03 crore voters placed in that category.
- Jharkhand’s draft roll omitted about 4.36 million names after SIR and several states published ASDD/ASDDO lists online so voters and parties can inspect the entries.
- Being marked ASDDO does not equal deletion because Booth Level Officers and Electoral Registration Officers can restore entries and statutory notices and hearings will be held during claims-and-objections windows.
- Correction routes include submitting Forms 6/6A for inclusion, Form 7 for deletion requests and Form 8 for corrections, plus presentation of accepted ID documents to BLOs or EROs during the public notice and hearing phases.
- Political groups and activists have raised complaints about wrong classifications and asked for extra time, and several CEOs have tweaked SIR timetables so draft publication, notice periods and final roll dates now vary by state ahead of October finalisation.
