Dr. Umar Johnson has faced backlash after criticizing Vanessa Bryant, widow of Kobe Bryant, for not using her inherited wealth to benefit the Black community.
Johnson's comments were made during an appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast, where he claimed that Bryant was not using 'that Black man's money' to do any good in the Black community.
Many social media users defended Bryant, arguing that what she does with her money is her business and that she has already done a lot for the community.
Vanessa Bryant and Kobe Bryant founded the Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Foundation in 2007, which provides scholarships to minority college students and other youth worldwide.
Vanessa Bryant has also launched the Mambacita clothing line in honor of her late daughter, with all proceeds going to the Mamba & Mambacita Foundation.
