• A Douglas County jury found Hanna Gilmour, 29, guilty of felony child abuse resulting in the death of her 22-month-old son, Layton.

• Prosecutors said the child was picked up during a November 2022 custody exchange after his father noticed he didn’t look right, and he was later found unresponsive and pronounced dead.
• Investigators reported the Littleton apartment Gilmour shared with her boyfriend was littered with illegal drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine, mushrooms and marijuana.
• Prosecutors said they believe the toddler accidentally ingested fentanyl from the floor, calling the death a senseless and preventable tragedy and citing a parental duty to protect.
