Doug Bruno Takes Medical Leave, Jill Pizzotti Steps In as DePaul Interim Coach

The veteran coach is recovering from a medical incident, leaving the team in the hands of his long-time associate.

Doug Bruno, a Hall of Famer with 50 years of coaching experience, is on indefinite medical leave from DePaul women's basketball.
Jill M. Pizzotti, who has served as Bruno's associate head coach for 11 seasons, will act as interim head coach.
Bruno has an impressive record with 786 wins and 26 NCAA Tournament appearances, including four Sweet Sixteen finishes.
The DePaul team, featuring a mix of freshmen, transfers, and returning players, began official practices last week.
The Blue Demons have an upcoming exhibition game on October 18 and will start their regular season on November 6 against Mercyhurst.
