A boat with 10 people onboard capsized on Lake Tahoe on June 21, 2025.

Overview

  • The 27-foot Chris-Craft capsized on June 21 during a fast-moving storm that whipped winds above 35 mph and stirred 8-foot swells.
  • Victims included Joshua Pickles, DoorDash’s global head of strategic sourcing and procurement, his parents and other family members and friends.
  • Two passengers were rescued from the icy water and hospitalized with hypothermia and injuries.
  • The boat, co-owned by Joshua and his father, had been taken out only twice before a birthday celebration for Paula Bozinovich, 71.
  • The U.S. Coast Guard, El Dorado County sheriff’s office and regional agencies led the rescue and recovery efforts and continue to assist in the ongoing investigation.
