The game combines features from the Wii and 3DS versions, including 80 levels across nine worlds and the return of extra levels originally exclusive to the 3DS port.
Modern Mode offers a more forgiving experience with extra hearts, items like Crash Guard and Green Balloons, and traditional button controls, while Classic Mode retains the original difficulty.
Local co-op gameplay allows one player to control Donkey Kong and another to play as Diddy Kong, utilizing his jet pack and peanut popgun for support.
