Donations for CSPD K9 Roam Top $68,000 as Injured Police Dog Retires From Service

Planned merchandise will fund Roam’s care, benefiting the CSPD K9 unit.

  • CSPD reports more than $68,000 raised through the Police Foundation for K9 Roam’s medical needs following the Oct. 15 stabbing.
  • Roam is recovering at home with his former handler and will not return to active duty.
  • The foundation plans Roam-themed wrist bracelets, a 2026 K9 unit calendar and a plush doll to continue fundraising.
  • Donations have come from the local area as well as 32 U.S. states, Canada, the United Kingdom and Belgium.
  • Roam underwent multiple surgeries and a left hind-leg amputation, received several blood transfusions with help from other working K9 donors, and was released from the hospital on Oct. 18 as hundreds lined his route home.
