On the Oct. 13 Raw from Perth’s RAC Arena, Mysterio beat Penta to keep the Intercontinental Championship after striking him with the timekeeper’s bell hammer during a distraction.
Rusev appeared during the show and said he is next in line for a title shot after speaking with Raw general manager Adam Pearce.
The bout marked the third title meeting of this reign between Mysterio and Penta, following successful defenses in April and May.
Mysterio debuted a neck tattoo of a luchador mask and has been billing himself as the “King of the Luchadors,” with WWE also spotlighting his concurrent AAA Mega Championship.
