Overview

  • The Oficina de Violencia Doméstica recorded 2,643 formal complaints and 2,103 informational inquiries in Q1 2025, representing increases of 9% and 4% respectively.
  • Women accounted for 73% of 3,331 reported victims, with adults aged 18 to 59 making up two-thirds of cases.
  • Of 2,849 accused individuals, 71% were men and many defendants faced unemployment, incomplete secondary education and substance issues.
  • Psychological abuse was identified in 95% of cases, followed by symbolic/physical (44%), environmental (30%), economic (26%), social (8%), sexual (7%) and digital (4%) violence.
  • Civil courts issued 8,964 urgent protective orders and distributed cases across criminal, juvenile and adolescent jurisdictions.
