Overview

  • During a July 9 appearance on Khloé in Wonder Land, Parton revealed she has put new song writing on hold because grief makes it too emotional to finish lyrics.
  • She explained she “can’t afford the luxury of getting that emotional right now” and has shelved several song ideas until her feelings settle.
  • The country icon assured fans her music career isn’t over and pledged to resume writing once she feels ready to create again.
  • Earlier this year she paid tribute to her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, with the ballad “If You Hadn’t Been There” and appearances at Dollywood’s 40th anniversary and the Grand Ole Opry centennial.
  • Drawing on her faith and fan support, Parton is adapting to life without Dean and has scheduled a December Las Vegas residency for her first shows there in over three decades.
