Dolly Parton Misses Dollywood’s IAAPA Hall of Fame Induction Over Health Challenges

Parton says doctors ordered rest, keeping her near Vanderbilt for ongoing treatments.

Overview

  • In a video posted Wednesday, the 79-year-old apologized for skipping the Nov. 17 ceremony and said she has been dealing with “a few health challenges” this fall.
  • Dollywood was inducted into the IAAPA Hall of Fame, a distinction that makes Parton only the second woman inducted on her own and the fourth woman recognized in the association’s 100-year history.
  • She also did not attend the 16th Governors Awards in person on Nov. 16, accepting the Academy’s Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award via a prerecorded message from Tennessee.
  • Her medical care has prompted schedule changes, including postponing her Las Vegas residency to Sept. 17–26, 2026.
  • Parton has reassured fans that nothing major is wrong, saying she is “not dying” and is receiving a few treatments close to home.
