Dolly Parton Collaborates with Goddaughter Miley Cyrus for 'Wrecking Ball' Cover on New Rock Album

Dolly Parton's first rock album 'Rockstar', to arrive Nov. 17, features duets with other iconic musicians including Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and the original artists of some rock classics, with Miley Cyrus joining for an emotional rendition of her 2013 hit "Wrecking Ball".

  • Dolly Parton covers Miley Cyrus' hit song 'Wrecking Ball' on her first rock album 'Rockstar', set to be released on Nov 17. Along with Cyrus, the album features duets with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and many other iconic musicians.
  • As per Parton, the first time she heard 'Wrecking Ball', it moved her similarly to when she heard Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’. This emotion led her to want to include the song on her album, with Cyrus also participating in the collaboration.
  • Their new rendition of 'Wrecking Ball' starts with Parton singing the first verse as a piano ballad, before it explodes into a rock anthem with electric guitars, featuring both singers. They also pay tribute to Parton's classic 'I Will Always Love You' at the song's conclusion.
  • Rockstar' is Parton's response to her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Alongside 'Wrecking Ball', the album includes nine original songs and twenty-one covers of classic rock songs featuring several other prominent artists.
  • Parton and Cyrus have frequently collaborated throughout the years, owing to a close relationship with Cyrus' father, Billy Ray Cyrus. Previous collaborations include performances on 'The Voice' and 'Hannah Montana'.
