The discovery was made by Ancestry using billions of historical records and public family trees.
Parton expressed delight at the news, noting that she and Cyrus have always felt like family.
The revelation comes as Parton prepares to release a new family-centric album, 'Dolly Parton & Family: Smoky Mountain DNA – Family, Faith & Fables,' in November.
