DOJ Faces Lawsuit Over Missing Jan. 6 Evidence From Online Portal

Media coalition demands restoration of deleted Capitol riot case files, citing public right to access judicial records.

Nine video exhibits from the DOJ's case against Glen Mitchell Simon, a convicted January 6 rioter, have been removed from the USAfx online portal.
A coalition of 14 media organizations has filed a motion requesting the restoration of the missing records and an explanation for their removal within 48 hours.
The coalition also seeks assurances that no further records will be deleted without judicial approval and prior notification to relevant parties.
The DOJ has yet to provide an explanation for the missing files but stated it would address the issue promptly.
The deletions have raised concerns about preserving public access to evidence tied to the Capitol riot cases, which are considered critical to understanding the events of January 6, 2021.
