Two former corrections officers accused of sexually abusing women incarcerated at FCI Dublin in California are facing federal charges, prosecutors say.

Overview

  • The Justice Department charged former officers Jeffrey Wilson and Lawrence Gacad on June 25 for sexually abusing female inmates at the now-closed Dublin facility.
  • Wilson faces five counts of sexual abuse of a ward plus a false-statements charge over alleged incidents in a prison medical room between March and August 2022.
  • Gacad is accused of one count of abusive sexual contact for alleged abuse of an inmate between March and June 2022.
  • These latest charges bring to ten the number of FCI Dublin staff formally accused since federal prosecutors opened their investigation into systemic prisoner abuse.
  • FCI Dublin has remained shuttered since December 2024 after reports of hazardous conditions, staffing shortages and a class-action lawsuit over rampant sexual misconduct.
