DOJ Charges Indiana Woman Over Threats to Kill President Trump After D.C. Arrest

A federal complaint cites violent social-media posts documented by the Secret Service.

  • Nathalie Rose Jones, 50, of Lafayette, Indiana, was arrested Aug. 16 in Washington, D.C., following a protest that circled the White House complex.
  • Prosecutors say she posted threats on Instagram and Facebook to kill President Trump, including an Aug. 6 message stating she would "sacrificially kill" him by disembowelment.
  • During an Aug. 15 voluntary Secret Service interview, she allegedly said she would kill the President if given the opportunity, referenced a "bladed object" as a weapon, and cited a desire to avenge COVID-19 deaths.
  • She is charged in a U.S. District Court complaint with threatening to take the life of, kidnap, or inflict bodily harm upon the President under 18 U.S.C. § 871, as well as transmitting interstate threats.
  • The U.S. Secret Service is leading the investigation, Assistant U.S. Attorney Josh Satter is prosecuting, Jones remains in federal custody awaiting further court proceedings, and the offense carries up to five years in prison under § 871.
