Overview

  • On June 28, the Department of Justice and the companies filed a settlement in federal court to avert the July 9 antitrust trial.
  • Under the agreement, HPE will sell its Instant On wireless networking unit and grant a license to Juniper’s Mist AI source code for WLAN products.
  • The joint filing now awaits judicial approval, clearing the way for the $14 billion all-cash acquisition first announced in January 2024 to close.
  • HPE financed the takeover largely through new debt as it aims to integrate Juniper’s AI-driven networking tools into its hybrid cloud offerings to better challenge Cisco.
  • The deal has already won European Commission approval and remains under review by UK regulators, illustrating global scrutiny over major tech consolidations.
