This move follows a February 19 executive order by President Trump to downsize federal agencies and eliminate non-essential functions.
DOGE canceled $4.5 million in foreign aid grants, including funding for alpaca farming in Peru, vegetable gardens in El Salvador, and cultural integration programs in Brazil.
Since its inception, DOGE claims to have saved $105 billion through contract cancellations, workforce reductions, and other cost-cutting measures.
Critics have raised concerns about DOGE’s sweeping authority to terminate federal contracts and programs, while supporters praise its efforts to eliminate wasteful spending.
