Dog Assists in Ice Rescue of Michigan Man

A 65-year-old man fell through the ice into Arbutus Lake in East Bay Township, Michigan while walking his dog, Ruby.
Michigan State Police officer Kammeron Bennetts responded to the scene but was unable to reach the man due to the conditions of the ice.
The man's dog, Ruby, was sent over to Bennetts, who attached a rescue disc to her collar.
Ruby returned to her owner with the rescue disc, allowing Bennetts and a firefighter from Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department to pull the man to safety.
The man was in the water for about 16 minutes and was later released from Munson Medical Center without serious injuries.
