Dog and Police Officer Rescue Man from Frozen Michigan Lake

The 65-year-old man was pulled to safety after his dog, Ruby, delivered a rescue disc to him in the icy waters of Arbutus Lake.

  • A 65-year-old man in Michigan was rescued from a frozen lake by his dog, Ruby, and Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Officer Kammeron Bennetts.
  • The man had fallen through the ice on Arbutus Lake in East Bay Township, and was unable to get out due to the icy conditions.
  • Officer Bennetts, unable to reach the man himself, attached a rescue disc to Ruby's collar and had the dog deliver it to the man.
  • The man was able to grab onto the disc, and Officer Bennetts, along with a local firefighter, pulled him to safety.
  • The man was in the water for approximately 16 minutes before being rescued and was later treated at a local hospital and released.
