Dodgers Place Max Muncy on 10-Day IL After Knee Bone Bruise

An MRI scheduled for Friday will determine whether the bone bruise sidelines the Dodgers’ middle-of-the-order slugger beyond the initial 10-day period.

Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy (13) is injured as he flips over Chicago White Sox right fielder Michael A. Taylor (21) after tagging him out on an attempted steal in the fifth inning at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California on July 2, 2025.

Overview

  • The team moved third baseman Max Muncy to the 10-day injured list Thursday after he left Wednesday’s game with a left knee bone bruise.
  • Muncy was hurt in the sixth inning when White Sox’s Michael A. Taylor slid head-first into third base and struck his knee during a steal attempt.
  • An MRI on Friday will reveal if the injury requires a stay longer than the minimum 10 days or if it is limited to a bruise.
  • To fill Muncy’s roster spot, Los Angeles recalled outfielder Esteury Ruiz from Triple-A Oklahoma City and plans to give him time at third base.
  • Muncy’s .286/.414/.553 slash line with 12 homers highlights the challenge to the Dodgers’ offensive depth as they manage multiple injuries and approach the trade deadline.
