Overview

  • Hernández returned from a left elbow issue that sidelined him since July 6 and was active for Monday's series opener against the Reds.
  • Manager Dave Roberts said Hernández would come off the bench Monday and start on Tuesday and Wednesday, with positions to be determined.
  • The 34-year-old completed five rehab games at Triple-A Oklahoma City, batting .357 with two doubles and three RBI.
  • Buddy Kennedy was DFA'd to clear a spot after going 1-for-17 in seven games with Los Angeles.
  • Blake Snell is set to rejoin the team from paternity leave to start Friday against Arizona, and Max Muncy is expected back next week on the East Coast trip, with Tommy Edman, Hyeseong Kim, Michael Kopech, Brusdar Graterol and Brock Stewart still on the injured list.
