- The awards were announced on the Detroit Auto Show press day at Huntington Place, with the Charger receiving 195 votes, the Maverick Lobo 277, and the Palisade 270.
- NACTOY’s panel of U.S. and Canadian automotive journalists evaluated new and significantly redesigned vehicles using structured testing and comparison drives.
- Finalists were Dodge Charger, Honda Prelude and Nissan Sentra for Car; Ford Maverick Lobo, Ram 1500 Hemi and Ram 2500 for Truck; and Hyundai Palisade, Lucid Gravity and Nissan Leaf for Utility.
- Jurors cited the Charger's return to gas-powered performance, the Maverick Lobo’s sporty compact pickup formula, and the Palisade’s family-focused value including an available hybrid model.
- The winning vehicles will remain on display throughout the Detroit Auto Show’s public run from Jan. 17 to 25.
