• Paisley Sheriff Court sentenced Attiya and Omer Sheikh to 10 months in prison after they admitted selling NHS Scotland PPE stolen in 2020.
• The original 12-month terms were reduced because of the couple’s early guilty pleas.
• Prosecutors said the Sheikhs netted £7,827 by reselling masks, gloves and wipes through multiple eBay accounts.
• NHS Scotland Counter Fraud Services began its inquiry in July 2020 and police found 121 boxes of stolen PPE during an October raid on the couple’s Thornliebank home.
• Dr Attiya Sheikh, who worked at University Hospital Hairmyres, remains under interim General Medical Council conditions while her professional conduct is investigated.
