Overview

• Alexander Dobrindt arrived in Israel on June 28 as the first international guest since the Israel-Iran airstrike exchanges to show Berlin’s solidarity.
• He met families of hostages taken to the Gaza Strip to underscore Germany’s humanitarian support.
• Dobrindt held discussions with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, Defense Minister Israel Katz and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer on security, civil protection and crisis management.
• He called for Germany to build a “Cyber Dome” as a digital shield against espionage, sabotage and threats to critical infrastructure.
• CSU leader Markus Söder separately proposed acquiring an Iron Dome–style interceptor shield, precision weapons and a drone army to bolster Germany’s defense capabilities.
