DNC Adds $500,000 for GOTV in NJ, VA and PA, Pushing Total Above $6 Million

The new push targets contests widely viewed as an early gauge of the president’s first-year standing.

Overview

  • The Democratic National Committee announced an extra $500,000 for get-out-the-vote efforts in New Jersey and Virginia governor’s races and Pennsylvania judicial contests, taking its total spending in the three states past $6 million for Nov. 4.
  • New Jersey remains the closest fight, with Democrat Mikie Sherrill leading Republican Jack Ciattarelli 50% to 44% in an Oct. 15 Quinnipiac poll as multiple surveys show a narrowing gap.
  • A GOP-commissioned KAConsulting poll conducted Oct. 15–16 reported Sherrill at 47% and Ciattarelli at 44%, underscoring Republican claims that the race has tightened.
  • Outside money has made New Jersey the most expensive governor’s race in state history, with a DGA-linked PAC announcing over $20 million and pro-Ciattarelli groups raising at least $13 million, according to filings.
  • In Virginia, Democrat Abigail Spanberger holds roughly a 10-point lead over Republican Winsome Earle-Sears in recent high-quality polls tracked by the New York Times, while Pennsylvania voters face retention decisions for three justices on the state Supreme Court’s 5–2 liberal majority.
