Overview
- The Philadelphia medical examiner confirmed through DNA that the remains recovered behind the abandoned Ada H. Lewis Middle School are those of 23-year-old Kada Scott.
- District Attorney Larry Krasner said Monday that suspect Keon King now faces additional counts including arson causing catastrophe, conspiracy, unauthorized use of an automobile, tampering with evidence, recklessly endangering another person, and receiving stolen property.
- King was previously arrested on kidnapping and related offenses in Scott’s disappearance and remains in custody as prosecutors have also refiled an earlier, similar kidnapping case against him from this year.
- Investigators say a very specific anonymous tip led them back to the wooded area where Scott’s body was found in a shallow grave near where her debit card, phone case, and a gold 1999 Toyota Camry tied to the case had been located days earlier.
- Cause and manner of death have not been determined, and the homicide division, working with the FBI, continues to process phone data, surveillance video, and other evidence for potential further charges.
