• On August 7 the New York City medical examiner’s office confirmed the identities of three additional 9/11 victims through DNA testing.
• The newly identified victims include 26-year-old Ryan Fitzgerald, 72-year-old Barbara Keating and a third woman whose name remains private at the family’s request.
• With the latest confirmations the total number of identified victims rises to 1,653 out of the 2,753 killed in the attacks, leaving 1,100 remains still unresolved.
• Mayor Eric Adams said the progress offers renewed solace to families who have awaited answers since the attacks.
