DMRC Commissions Rebuilt Park Street Substation to Power Airport and Violet Lines, Ready Central Vista Corridor

The facility relocates to CPWD land featuring upgraded automation, advanced safety, energy‑efficient systems.

Overview

  • DMRC announced the relocation, reconstruction and commissioning of the Park Street Electric Receiving Sub-Station, restoring full traction power for Delhi Metro operations.
  • The original substation, built in 2010, was dismantled in 2021–22 for Central Vista works, with rebuilding on alternate CPWD land begun in 2023 and completed in December 2025.
  • The combined facility now supplies the Airport Line and the Violet Line and includes additional 25 kV feeders for the Central Vista corridor between Indraprastha and R K Ashram Marg under Phase‑5A.
  • Major systems have been re‑erected and commissioned, including 66 kV power transformers, 66 kV GIS panels, 33 kV panels and 25 kV GIS panels.
  • Upgrades include an advanced substation automation system, VRF air‑conditioning, LED lighting, automatic fire protection and a fully addressable fire alarm, with green certification sought and rooftop solar planned.
