DiVine Launches to Revive Vine’s Archive With an Anti-AI, Decentralized App

Built from community backups by Evan Henshaw‑Plath, the project restores lost clips under policies that leave ownership with original creators.

Overview

  • The app went live on November 13 on iOS and Android and is available at diVine.video.
  • Funded by Jack Dorsey’s nonprofit and Other Stuff, diVine runs on the open Nostr protocol and is fully open source.
  • Reconstruction of the Archive Team backup recovered an estimated 150,000–200,000 videos from about 60,000 creators, with many long‑tail clips still missing.
  • The service blocks suspected generative‑AI uploads and uses Guardian Project tools to help verify smartphone‑recorded, human-made videos.
  • Creators keep copyright and can file DMCA takedowns or reclaim profiles through verification, as X’s promised Vine revival has not produced a public release.
